Inari-yama Map

Visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha can give you a truly unique, spiritual and enchanting experience if you take extra time and effort to walk further up from Yotsutsuji, the view point after steep steps up from Santoku sha, and walk around the circle trail towards the top of Inari-yama. It would be worthy to spare one morning or afternoon for a visit to Fushimi Inari. However, you can always head back if you do not have time to visit whole of Inari yama.

You will find less Torii gates from Yotsutsuji, but you can still see lines of them in patches. Also, you will find countless of small shrines in Inari-yama that enshrine different deities/spirits, that often displayed with smaller torii gates and candles that are dedicated by worshipers. It will take about 40 minutes to go around the circle trail, but if you have more time and feel for an adventure, you might also want to spend extra time to explore other paths branching out from the main street. Occasionally, you may also find a man in a white clothing to stand still chanting under a splashing water fall.

The shops along the paths are to serve for the shrines. They maintain the shrines for the worshipers and provide candles, food and drinks as offerings to make dedication to the deities. They also provide tea and light meals for visitors.
